DBX Mobility — Quick Reference

Everything in one place. Search, or tap a question to open it.

The Company

A UK retailer of refurbished electric wheelchairs (powerchairs) and mobility scooters. The range is currently mostly powerchairs.

Everything is refurbished in our own workshop in Rotherham, South Yorkshire — we're not a drop-shipper. Every chair is stripped down, cleaned, safety-checked and fitted with brand new batteries by our technician before it's listed.

Website: dbxmobility.uk

We have a workshop in Rotherham where all our refurbishment work is carried out.

We don't have a showroom at the moment — but we're in the process of setting one up.

Not currently — our whole business is built around refurbished, which is how customers get quality equipment at a fraction of the new price.

We will be selling new equipment in the future, but refurbished remains our focus.

We also supply parts and accessories, and offer equipment hire.

Products

The question that comes up most. Every chair goes through the DBX Mobility Promise:

  • Deep cleaned and sanitised
  • Multi-point safety checked by our expert technicians
  • Brand new batteries fitted
  • Backed by a 6-month warranty

They're pre-owned, so there may be light cosmetic marks — but they are mechanically and electrically sound, and we're upfront about condition.

KEY SELLING POINT

Yes — we fit brand new batteries. This is one of the biggest things that sets us apart, so say it with confidence.

The battery is the part people worry about most with a second-hand chair, and it's the most expensive thing to replace. Ours are new.

Only if they quote the website at you

A few listings mention "battery capacity verified". That applies to some lithium powerchairs: where the existing lithium battery tests as good as new, we verify its capacity and sell it on that basis — and it's still covered by the full 6-month warranty.

This is the exception, not the rule. Don't lead with it. The great majority of our chairs are fitted with brand new batteries.

It arrives fully assembled, fully charged, and ready to use from the moment it arrives. Nothing to build, nothing to charge overnight first.

Cleaned, safety-checked, new batteries fitted. Each listing carries a Condition Grade, and where a specific unit has notable cosmetic marks that's flagged on its product page.

The product page for each chair has the full spec table. The things that usually decide it:

  • Folding vs. rigid — folding for car boots and travel; rigid for comfort and outdoor use
  • Weight — can they lift it into a car?
  • Weight capacity — listed in stone, lb and kg
  • Range per charge — how far on one charge
  • Indoor or outdoor — turning radius matters indoors; suspension matters outdoors

Never give medical advice. If someone asks what's suitable for a specific condition or disability, don't advise — pass it to the team.

Buying & Price

Yes. We offer Klarna and Shop Pay, both selectable at checkout on the website.

Both are subject to status — the decision is made by Klarna or Shop Pay, not by us, so we can't say in advance whether someone will be approved.

Directly on the website, at checkout. Card, or Klarna / Shop Pay if they want to spread the cost.

Yes. Customers who are chronically sick or disabled, or buying on behalf of someone who is, can buy VAT-free — standard HMRC practice for mobility equipment.

They complete the VAT Relief Declaration form at dbxmobility.uk/pages/vat-relief-form. It can be completed by the buyer or by a third party on their behalf.

It's a legal declaration, so we can't complete it for them.

Yes. Ask them to fill in our part exchange form at dbxmobility.uk/pages/part-exchange — it asks for at least 4 photos — and we'll get back to them.

Valuations aren't done over the phone.

TO CONFIRM

Prices are already heavily reduced against new RRP — each listing shows the saving.

[Any discretion on price? Any active discount code? Who authorises?]

Don't negotiate on the phone unless the team has confirmed you can.

Delivery

Free UK delivery. The chair arrives fully assembled, fully charged and ready to use.

2–3 working days.

Large items ship on a pallet via our carrier, Pallet Online. The chair is secured to a pallet and delivered by a lorry with a tail-lift, brought to the kerbside / doorstep — the driver won't take it inside or upstairs.

The customer needs to be at home for the delivery. Say this clearly, it avoids a failed delivery.

Full detail is on dbxmobility.uk/pages/delivery-information — worth sending to anyone who sounds nervous about it.

Once it's dispatched, a dispatch notification email is sent with a tracking link in it.

If they can't find it or it isn't tracking properly, take the order number and pass it to the team — don't guess at a delivery date.

TO CONFIRM

[Highlands, islands, Northern Ireland — do we deliver, and is there a surcharge?]

Warranty & Returns

6-month warranty, included with every chair, as standard.

TO CONFIRM

[Parts and labour, or parts only? Any exclusions worth knowing?]

COMES UP OFTEN

Reassure them it's covered under their 6-month warranty, then take:

  • Order number (or the name and address the order was under)
  • What the chair is doing — or not doing
  • When it started
  • Whether it's still safe to use

Then it goes to the workshop. Don't try to diagnose it on the phone.

TO CONFIRM

[What happens next — collection, engineer visit, parts sent out? Rough timescale?]

14-day returns.

  • The buyer pays for return shipping — the cost is deducted from the refund.
  • Once the refund has been processed, allow up to 5 working days for it to show in their bank.

No — we only provide servicing and support for chairs purchased from DBX Mobility.

Say it warmly, not bluntly: "We only look after chairs that have come through our own workshop, so unfortunately that's not something we're able to help with. If you're ever looking to replace it, though, do come back to us — we'd be glad to help."

No match. Try a different word — or it may not be in here yet.

This is a starter guide — we'll keep adding to it. Ask us anything you'd like confirmed.

If a customer asks something that isn't in here, just say: "Let me double check and I'll get back to you."
